Bright Spot Volunteer
Bright Spot Volunteer Program
The Albany Humane Society (AHS) Bright Spot Volunteer Program has a place for everyone! As a Bright Spot volunteer you will work hands on with the homeless dogs and cats in the Adoption Center. Existing volunteers click here to login to the volunteer site.
You will help with:
- Caring for the animals
Socialize, walk, play, reinforce basic commands, brush, feed and clean up as needed.
- Greeting visitors
Provide welcoming, friendly, educational environment; help with adoptions, answer basic adoption questions and tell about the animals.
Encourage good choices by listening to the needs of prospective adopter and introducing them to potential life long animal family members
- Keeping AHS clean
Pick up after the animals and maintain clean bedding and toys for the animals.
Other ways to volunteer:
- Special events
Create and/or distribute information to promote upcoming events and fundraisers.
- Outreach programs
Accompany and transport animals to off-site events such as festivals, Petsmart adoption events, Yappy Hour and club events.
Write animal bios for potential adopters and Petfinders.
Other volunteer opportunities:
- SWAC Bright Spot Youth Volunteer Program
Enables children 5-15 years of age to volunteer with a parent or legal guardian. As part of the Volunteer Program youngsters will participate in socializing animals and help maintain a clean safe environment for our homeless animals.
- SWAC Bright Spot Group Volunteer Program
For information on group volunteering please contact our volunteer coordinator. Include a few facts about the group, the experience you are interested in, the number of people and contact information.
Whether chaperoning an animal at an adoption event, creating a bio or practicing good behavior with an animal, every single one of your actions is highly valued and appreciated by AHS and the animals. As a Bright Spot Volunteer you will help keep the animals healthy, happy and highly adoptable!
